Will

In the Name of God Amen! I Gilead Seacord of the parish of Sussex in Kings County and Province of New Brunswick farmer, being of sound mind and memory and understanding, But advanced in years and impressed with the uncertainty of life do make and declare, this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say - First I desire that my body may be decently intered [sic] and all my just debts and funeral and testamentary expenses paid, and all debts due me collected as early as conveniently may be - Secondly - I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Margaret to and for her own benefit and use the just and full sum of fifteen pounds currency annually during the full period of her natural life Thirdly - I give devise and bequeath unto my son Gilead Secord his heirs and assigns for Ever, all those Certain lots pieces and parcels of land lying and being in the East side of Salmon River in the parish of Sussex aforesaid originally granted to Donald McDonald deceased being the homestead on which I have resided and known as lots numbers seven, thirteen and fifteen excepting the portions heretofore conveyed by me to my sons Harding and Gilead and a further portion conveyed to John Asbel and for the better securing of the payment of which I now hold a mortgage - Fourthly - I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Margaret the sum of fifty pounds currency together with all my furniture beds bedding &c and all household effects and utensils for her sole use and disposal - Fifthly - I give and bequeath unto my son Caleb Seacord one young mare, twelve sheep and two cows which are now in his possession - Sixthly - I give and bequeath unto my sons Harding and William all my right interest and claim to the mortgage to the mortgage [sic] to me from John Asbell before referred to, also all my right and title to a lot of land on Smiths Creek in the parish of Studholm bought from the Crown by Coles Green for which I paid the purchase money and now hold a judgement Bond upon the express condition that they my sons William and Harding pay out to my Grand daughter Ruth Burgess the sum of twelve pounds ten shillings currency making in all the sum of twenty five pounds the same to be paid to her at the age of twenty two years - Seventhly -I give and bequeath unto my children Elias, Leah, and Margaret, respectively the sum of Five Shillings each and I give and bequeath all the rest residue and remainder of my personal Estate cattle stock and farming implements unto my son Gilead Seacord aforesaid his heirs and assigns - Lastly -I make constitute and appoint my sons William Seacord and Gilead Seacord aforesaid the Executors of this my last Will and testament and I hereby give and grant unto my said Executors all needful power and authority necessary and requisite to carry into effect every Clause and Provision in the same - In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this nineteenth day of May in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty six
